Kenneth Knowlton (USA) b 1931

Kenneth Knowlton was among the pioneering team at Bell Labs in the 1960s. He was a computer scientist and wrote one of the first specialised computer animation languages, BEFLIX (a derivation of 'Bell Flicks'). Knowlton collaborated with a number of artists, including Stan Vanderbeek and Lillian Schwartz. Vanderbeek worked with Knowlton on a number of films, including Poem Fields.
