The Biennale Serigraphs (1954-1969)
In 1969, the Werkstatt-Edition Kroll approached Franke with a request to produce a series of silkscreen prints based on various works. The resulting prints were exhibited in the German Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 1970–71.
Shown here are motifs from the complete Biennale series by Herbert W. Franke, comprising works from the series „Analogue computer“ of the 1950s (including the series „Oszilogramme“ and „Dance of the Electrons“), as well as two motifs from the second digital series „KAES“ of 1969 and one motif from the series „Squares“ of 1969.
