While You Were Sleeping (2016)
A full size replica of a drone is held down by network cables, as if ready to be freed and perform its function as a monitoring device. The unmanned flying object is regularly used to track down military objectives (be it facilities or individuals) and facilitate air strikes, making it an ominous symbol of data-driven, technological warfare that often leads to the killing of innocent people. The object is presented as a caged beast, exhibited for the entertainment of audiences but still dangerous. Its sleek black shapes make it at once seductive, reminiscent of a stylized sports car, and also mysterious and threatening.
